# WHAT TO TRY — A-12 Marauder's Map ("Parchment Circuit")
Open `index.html` in any browser. It works fully offline — there is nothing to install and nothing is tracked.
1. **Read the red-bordered frame first.** It is the product's law, printed before the map: household members only, with knowledge and consent — and this prototype runs on invented data, tracks nothing and no one, and the real map is off until you turn it on.
2. **Check the plan's label:** "SAMPLE PLAN — not the owner's house." Nine generic rooms, invented for this page. If a room layout ever looks like a real house on a prototype, that prototype has failed — this one cannot, it was drawn from a grid, not a home.
3. **Drag the time scrubber** from 18:00 toward 22:10. Four invented tokens — Phone A, Phone B, Keys fob, Laptop — appear as colored dots in rooms, each with a dashed trail of the rooms it has visited so far. Phone B does not exist before 18:05; watch it appear on the Porch.
4. **Press Play** and let the evening run on its own, then Pause and scrub backwards — the dots, trails, and log rewind exactly, because everything is replayed from the one synthetic dataset.
5. **Read the event log as you scrub.** Every line is a movement in the form "Phone A: hall → den, 19:42 SAMPLE" — and every line ends in SAMPLE. Find the 19:42 line: Phone A and the evening converge on the Den.
6. **Flip the off-switch demo:** click **Map: ON (prototype)** → the map goes OFF, dots and log hide, and the page prints its off state. That button models the packet's rule for the real build: off is a physical, demonstrable state (unplug = off), not just software politeness.
7. **Then read the packet** (`WIRING-PACKET-A12.md`, ~5 minutes): scanners → resolver → Home Assistant → this page, each step labeled with what exists today, what needs hardware, and what needs a sitting with you. The retention line is left open on purpose — 24 hours / 7 days / 30 days, your pick at the wiring sitting; until then the wired design keeps no history at all.
