SETUP PANEL — LAWFUL FENCES, PRINTED BEFORE THE CAMERA:
Your own property, lawful purposes. Know your state's recording law before you point any camera at a space other people use. This is a household tool, not a surveillance service.
NO AUDIO, BY DESIGN: This eye does not record sound. Audio recording is a different legal country; this tool doesn't go there.
COVER MODE, PLAINLY: Cover mode is this: it makes the phone look idle on the owner's own shelf — nothing more. It is not a way to watch people in a place where they have a right to expect privacy, it does not make an unlawful placement lawful, and it does not hide a camera from anyone who has a right to know one is there. If a space is one where people expect privacy, do not point this eye at it — covered or not.
NOTHING LEAVES: Nothing is uploaded, ever. Stills live in this page only; closing or reloading the tab wipes them.

The camera starts only when you press ARM CAMERA — never on page load, never on a timer. Disarm stops the camera tracks immediately. Cover mode can be entered only while armed; the camera keeps watching underneath the idle face, and motion captures continue into the gallery below.

Motion threshold (mean per-pixel change, 0–255). Lower = more sensitive. Adjustable while armed:

Threshold: 14 / 255 · a still is captured when the score reaches the threshold, at most once every 2.5 seconds.

How the motion watch works

Frame difference, from real frames: each camera frame is down-sampled to an analysis copy (160 × 120 at most). Per pixel, luminance Y = 0.2126·R + 0.7152·G + 0.0722·B (Rec. 709 luma).
Motion score: mean(|Y_now − Y_prev|) over those pixels, scale 0–255. A still scene scores near 0; a changed region raises it. The score says something changed — it does not say what, or who.
On a trigger: the current view is drawn as a still into the gallery on this page, stamped with the time and the score that triggered it. That is the whole of the "watch": no person detection, no identification, no tracking.
