Accuracy, stated honestly: positions are APPROXIMATE and educational. The compact algorithms below (low-precision solar/lunar theory, after the standard “Astronomical Algorithms” simplifications) are good to roughly a degree for the Sun. Measured against published calendars for the fixture date 2026-10-31 (see FIXTURES-A2.md in this folder): the phase name matched exactly (Waning Gibbous), moon age landed 0.4–0.6 days off depending on the reference's convention, and illumination read about 2–4 points high — because individual lunations run longer or shorter than the mean month, and a compact algorithm cannot know that. Fine for a dial, useless for navigation or eclipse prediction. The original mechanism predicted eclipses with gear trains; this page does not.

Fully self-contained: no network, no libraries, no tracking. Set any date and the dials recompute from that date alone.
