# WHAT TO TRY — A4 Scrying Orb ("Palantír Slate")
Open `index.html` in a browser. Works offline except the one live slice, which is your own camera.
1. **Read the gold fence panel first:** household consent only · feeds are local-network only. That panel is part of the product, not a disclaimer afterthought.
2. **The grid of six slots:** five are labeled **EMPTY — no device configured**, each with its own exact setup recipe (expand "Setup recipe"). Notice what is *not* there: no stock footage, no fake "live" pictures. An unconfigured slot is an empty chair.
3. **Slot 1 — the working slice:** click **Start my camera preview**, allow the camera → your own device's camera appears, in this tab only. Click again to stop; the slot returns to its honest empty state. Deny the permission and the slot prints the denial as its state.
4. **Clock** (top right) ticks live — a scrying orb that can't tell the time has no business showing you "now."
5. **If you later configure a real spare phone** using a slot recipe, that phone's feed joins the grid in the full build — Wave 1 deliberately stops at the recipe + the one live own-camera slice (see Build Record).
