# WHAT TO TRY — A-06 Science Slate ("Survey Slate Teal")

Open `index.html` in a browser — ideally Chrome/Edge on a laptop or phone (the Battery API and `navigator.connection` live there). Works offline. The page is labeled PROTOTYPE on its face.

1. **Dashboard on open:** the clock ticks live; **Power** shows your real battery % and charging state if the browser allows (watch it change when you plug/unplug); **Network** shows the browser's real effective connection type / downlink where offered; **Display** and **Platform** show real screen/window size, pixel ratio, user-agent, platform, and core count. In Firefox/Safari the battery and network cells print **UNAVAILABLE** — that is the honest answer, not a bug.
2. **Motion & orientation:** nothing is read until you press **Enable motion & orientation (explicit)**. On iOS the browser will ask permission — grant it, then tilt/move the device and watch real alpha/beta/gamma and acceleration values fill the cell. Deny, or use a device with no such sensors, and the cell stays UNAVAILABLE with the reason.
3. **Ambient light:** press **Enable ambient light (explicit)**. Most desktop browsers do not offer an `AmbientLightSensor`, so expect an honest UNAVAILABLE with that reason; on a browser/device that offers it, real lux readings appear.
4. **Location:** nothing is read until you press **Get location (explicit)**. Press it and allow → coordinates print on-page only. Deny → the cell says nothing was read.
5. **The always-UNAVAILABLE lines:** radiation/Geiger, temperature/pressure/humidity, and health vitals always read UNAVAILABLE — browsers expose none of them to a page, and a fake number would be a lie in a teal font. This page logs sensors; it diagnoses nothing.
6. **Sensor log:** press **Log a reading now** a few times (before and after enabling a sensor — notice the log records UNAVAILABLE honestly where a sensor is off). Close the tab and reopen: the log persists (localStorage, this device only). Press **Export log (.json)** or **Export log (.txt)** to download the log as a local file, then **Clear log** to empty it.
