# WHAT TO TRY — A7 Scanner ("Field Guide Coral")

Open `index.html` in any modern browser (double-click the file, or serve the folder). No install, no account, no network. Works offline.

1. **Read the amber box first.** It says what this is — a color/shape heuristic — and what it is not: *not species identification, not a card grader, not a price source.* If that isn't obvious in 10 seconds, the page failed its main job.
2. **SAMPLE A — green sprig art:** press the SAMPLE A button. The art draws itself, the signature prints (watch for green-dominant average color), and **GUESS #1 should be Verdant Spriglet** at a high resemblance. Every result is headed GUESS and carries a "Basis: matched mostly on …" line — check that the basis names features you can see in the signature table.
3. **SAMPLE B and C:** SAMPLE B should guess **Coral Bloomlet** first; SAMPLE C should guess **Azure Pebbleback** first. If any sample's intended entry is not #1 on your screen, that is real matcher evidence — note it; the guide's hand-set signatures are the first thing to tune.
4. **Upload a photo of anything** — a card, a plant, a coffee mug. It draws to the canvas and scans. A mug will likely trigger the honest line: **"no confident match — closest resemblance only."** That line appearing for an off-guide object is the honesty working, not a bug.
5. **Camera (optional, explicit):** press **Start camera (explicit)** — nothing happens until you press it, and the browser still asks permission. Frame something, press **Capture frame**, and it scans the still. **Stop camera** turns it off. Deny permission and the page says so plainly and offers the upload/SAMPLE routes.
6. **Read the field guide at the bottom.** All six entries are stamped SAMPLE with invented names — Verdant Spriglet, Coral Bloomlet, Azure Pebbleback, Golden Sunmote, Violet Nightcap, Slate Stripeback. None of them is a real species or a real card, and the page must never pretend otherwise.

The real test this prototype is staging for: a guide built from real, verified reference pictures, measured the same way. That build is a separate commission — this page only proves the scan → signature → GUESS machinery and its honesty labels.
