# WHAT TO TRY — B-11 Guide → Step Cards ("Big Type Workshop")
Open `index.html` in any modern browser (double-click the file, or serve the folder). No install, no account. It opens on the invented SAMPLE guide — 9 steps.
1. **Check the count.** Under the paste box it should read **"9 steps found"** and the list view should show 9 cards for the SAMPLE flat-pack shelf. The guide is stamped **SAMPLE** and **PROTOTYPE** — it is invented, not a real manual.
2. **Read the printed rules** (orange box, "How splitting works"). They should match what actually happens in the steps below. If a split surprises you, the rules box is where the explanation has to be.
3. **Enter Follow Mode.** Press **Start Follow Mode**. One card fills the screen in huge type. Press the huge **NEXT →** button — progress should read **"Step 2 of 9"**, then "Step 3 of 9". Use **← BACK** to go back. Try the **arrow keys** (→ / ←) and **Esc** to exit.
4. **Push past the end.** In Follow Mode, NEXT on the last card ("Step 9 of 9") should stay on step 9 — no blank card, no wrap-around.
5. **Paste your own numbered guide.** Clear the box, paste any numbered list (a recipe, a repair how-to) with `1.` / `2.` or `Step 1:` lines, press **Make Step Cards**, and check the live count and the cards.
6. **Paste paragraphs instead.** Paste text with blank lines between paragraphs and no numbers — each paragraph should become one card. Then paste a few plain lines with no blank lines — each line should become one card.
7. **Fix a bad split.** On any card, try **Split ✂** (it breaks at the middle sentence/word) and **Merge ↓ with next** (it joins two cards back into one). The count updates each time.
8. **Empty it.** Clear everything and press Make Step Cards — you should get an honest **"no steps found"** panel, not a crash or a blank page. Load the SAMPLE guide back with its button.
9. **Keep screen on.** Tap the WakeLock toggle. On a browser that offers it, the status turns ON; on one that doesn't, it prints **UNAVAILABLE** and the button disables — either answer is correct, a silent nothing is not.
10. **Save — deliberately.** Press **SAVE GUIDE TO THIS DEVICE**, close and reopen the page, then **Load saved guide**. Without SAVE, nothing should persist — that paste-and-go default is the privacy promise printed on the page.
The real test this prototype is staging for: one real furniture assembly and one real repair, phone in one hand, following cards instead of scrolling a manual page.
