# WHAT TO TRY — B7 Renter's Receipt ("Receipt Paper Cream")

Open `index.html` in any modern browser (double-click the file, or serve the folder). No install, no account — the page makes no network calls.

1. **Read the two printed laws first.** At the top: the timestamp law ("The timestamp is the receipt…") and the honesty line (this organizes your own records; it is not legal advice and doesn't file anything anywhere). If either isn't obvious in 10 seconds, the page failed its main job.
2. **Look at the 2 SAMPLE entries.** A kitchen tap drip (Leak) and a hallway scuff (Damage), each labeled **SAMPLE**. Note their timestamps: they are the moment you first opened this demo, *not* a made-up incident date — samples demonstrate the shape, they don't fake a history.
3. **Check the integrity line** above the form area: with the samples in it reads "2 entries · 0 photos · log started" + today's date. That one line is the whole integrity claim — honest and simple, on purpose.
4. **Clear the samples:** tap **"Clear samples and start mine."** The list empties, the samples do not come back on reload, and the log start resets to now — this log is yours from this tap.
5. **Log a real issue:** pick a category, write one plain line, attach a photo if you have one (it previews, and lands in the entry as a thumbnail). Save — the entry appears at the top, newest first, stamped with *this device's current time*. Try to edit that timestamp: there is no field and no edit button. That's the product.
6. **Delete an entry** and watch the integrity line: the counts drop and a deletion count is recorded on the line itself. Deleting is allowed; pretending it never happened is not.
7. **Export the packet:** tap **EXPORT PACKET**. Two things should happen — a file named `renters-receipt-packet.html` downloads, and the same packet opens in a print view. In the packet, check: the cover shows your premises label (change it in the "Premises label" field and re-export to see it follow), entries run in date order (oldest first — the opposite of the on-screen list), photos are inside the file, and the footer reads "Generated locally by Renter's Receipt. Timestamps are this device's clock at save time." Print it or save it as PDF from that view.
8. **Reload the page.** Your entries, your premises label, and your deletions are all still there — that's localStorage, on this device only.

The real test this prototype is staging for: reconstruct one real past maintenance dispute from a volunteer's camera roll into a packet, and ask whether the packet — not the app — is the thing they'd hand over. That run is a separate commission.
