# WHAT TO TRY — Item 3: M's Morning Briefing (Morning Dossier)

**Open it:** double-click `index.html` in this folder (`03-briefing/index.html`) in any browser. No install, no server, no internet needed. It is one single file.

**⚠ Every number and line on the page is SAMPLE placeholder data — printed as SAMPLE on the page itself. Nothing on it is live yet. This try-out is about the shape: is this the one page you'd want to glance at each morning?**

## Try these (about 2 minutes)

1. **Read it top to bottom like a newspaper.** Masthead → date line → Weather → Perimeter → Today → Market → Overnight. Time yourself roughly: the design goal is a full picture in under a minute.
2. **Check each card's small caption.** Every slot names its *source desk* (Weather Desk, Correlator, Calendar, Coffers) — that's who will feed that slot when it's wired for real.
3. **Look at the Overnight slot (bottom right) on purpose.** It doesn't show a fake "0" — it shows the **empty-state pattern**: a dashed box that honestly says *No data yet* and names the source it's waiting on. That's what any slot looks like on a morning when its desk hasn't filed.
4. **Hunt for a number that isn't stamped SAMPLE.** There shouldn't be one — the banner, every card, and the footer all say SAMPLE. If you spot an unstamped figure, that's a defect: tell Muse where.
5. **Resize / open on a phone if handy.** The two-column broadsheet should stack into one column and stay readable.

## Questions it would help to answer after looking

- Is anything you'd want at 7 AM missing (and which desk would own it)?
- Is anything here you'd never look at (a vanity slot to cut)?
- Should Overnight stay an empty-state until the Correlator exists, or should the first live wire be Weather + Calendar?
