What am I looking at?

A decoy hotspot (plan: PACKET-7.md) is a fake open network on spare hardware that exists only to be noticed. Radios constantly call out looking for networks they've known — those calls are probe requests. Sometimes a device goes further and tries to join — an association attempt. This viewer shows the only thing the decoy would ever record: that attempts happened (time, which radio asked, what name it called for, how loud it was). No traffic, no content, no credentials — there is no password and no portal, so there is nothing to capture. Think doorbell camera pointed at a decoy door — not a wiretap.

Read the rows gently: phones probe automatically and innocently all day. A row proves an attempt, never intent and never identity. Modern phones also randomize the MAC they broadcast — the log notes what was broadcast; it doesn't try to defeat that.
