# WHAT TO TRY — A25 Shoe Phone ("Shoe Line Scarlet")
Open `index.html` in a browser — best on your phone, with any ordinary Bluetooth earpiece you already own. No install, no account, works offline.
1. **Pair the earpiece (the recipe, ~1 minute):** follow the five numbered steps in section 1 on the page. Note what the page says plainly: pairing happens in the phone's own Bluetooth settings because browsers cannot pair headsets — this console will never offer you a fake Pair button.
2. **Prove the voice path (Line Test, section 4):** press **Play test tone** — the tone should land in the earpiece, not just the phone speaker. Then press **Record line test**, allow the microphone, say "testing the shoe line, one two three," and play it back. Clear both ways = the earpiece path works. Reload the page and the recording is gone — nothing was stored or sent.
3. **Make the shoe-phone call (Dial pad, section 2):** tap in a number you know, press **Call** — your phone's own dialer opens with the number in it. Confirm there, and the call runs through the paired earpiece. The console handed the number over; it never placed the call itself — that's the honest trick, and it's the whole trick.
4. **Try the Assistant (section 3):** press **Push to talk** and speak a number digit by digit. Where your browser offers speech recognition, what it heard prints on the page and its digits fill the dial pad for your review before any call.
5. **The no-support path:** open the page in a browser without speech recognition (or deny the microphone) — the Assistant prints **UNAVAILABLE** in writing instead of pretending, and the dial pad + line test still work. Same honesty if you skip the earpiece entirely: everything still functions, just through the phone's own speaker and mic.
**The gag, restated for the test:** there is no shoe yet — the hollow-sole prop is still your craft project on the gear register. Phone in pocket + earpiece in ear + this console on screen is the complete working novelty. If it delights, the prop is pure decoration on a system that already works.
