What to try — voice-changer

# WHAT TO TRY — Item A3-4 · Voice Changer ("Voice Box Violet")

**Open:** `index.html` in this folder — any browser, works offline. **Read:** `PACKET-A3-4.md` (5 minutes). Use a browser that allows microphone access for local files; if yours blocks mic on local files, the page will say so plainly and nothing is recorded.

1. **Read the fences first.** Top section, four lines — consent-only, no imitating another real person, never on any child-facing surface, and a synthetic-voice disclosure on anything published. Then the honesty-law line under it: this page is effects, not identity conversion.
2. **Record yourself.** Press ● RECORD, say a sentence or two in your normal voice, press ■ STOP. Play the original back; download it if you want to keep it (it's a local file — nothing was sent anywhere).
3. **Try Deep, then Bright.** Pick the preset, press "Apply transformation," and play the transformed clip. Notice what the labels promised: Deep is slower/lower/darker, Bright is faster/higher/lighter — that's the playback-rate pitch shift doing exactly what the label says, tape-style.
4. **Try Robot and Radio.** Robot is ring modulation (metallic side-tones around your voice — your voice is still recognisably the source). Radio squeezes your voice into the telephone band. Both are effects with long histories, not voice models.
5. **Play with the sliders directly.** Set the preset back to None, drag the pitch slider to +7 and then −7, and move the formant-flavoured EQ slider while re-applying. You're hearing the two honest ingredients, unmixed.
6. **Download the transformed clip** and notice the publish reminder under the player — if that file ever gets published, it carries a synthetic-voice disclosure (fence 4).

**Your call after trying:** whether the neural lane ever becomes a real sitting is a separate commission — the packet's step 2 (screening the tooling through the house's code-screening step before any install) is a hard gate, and the model in that lane is trained only on your own voice. This item is the effects slice and the plan — deliberately nothing more.
